The First Responder Network (FirstNet) is adding to its technical management team by hiring a number of professionals from the wireless industry with specialized backgrounds in devices, applications, testing, and network engineering. The newest members of the team are Joe Martinet, Mark Golaszewski, Michael Van Zuiden, and Lynn Bashaw. They will be based out of the Boulder, Colorado FirstNet technical headquarters and report to the Acting CTO, Jeff Bratcher.
Joe Martinet, our Director of Devices, previously worked as a consultant to the FirstNet devices team. He joins us from IMRI and brings over 15 years of experience in the cellular and satellite telecommunications device development and operations fields. During his time in the private sector, Joe worked as Technical Director at LightSquared and was Test Director at TerreStar. He also worked at Sprint/Nextel.
Mark Golaszewski, our Director of Applications, recently joined the team from IMRI, where he was a contractor for FirstNet in the role of Senior Manager of Applications in Boulder. He began his applications, communications, and networking career over 35 years ago with AT&T Bell Laboratories as a designer for a secure communications system for the U. S. Government. Throughout his career, Mark has been responsible for the architecture, design, development, delivery, and support of applications, networking equipment, wireless networks, cloud deployments, and cybersecurity solutions.
Michael Van Zuiden, our Director of Labs, joined FirstNet from Motorola Solutions Inc., where he was a public safety Long Term Evolution (“LTE”) System Test Engineering Manager. Michael began his lab testing and networking career over 30 years ago in the US Air Force working at the Air Force Geophysics Lab, Hanscom AFB, MA. Mike also worked for Motorola Inc. testing network infrastructure in 2G (PDC), 3G (CDMA 1x/EVDO) and 4G LTE technologies.
Lynn Bashaw, our Director of Network Operations, comes to us from Reliance Globalcom where he was the Vice President for Network Engineering and Operations. Lynn began his communications and networking career 30 years ago as an officer with the US Air Force, where he worked on engineering voice orderwire deployments that linked DOD communications facilities throughout Europe. During his career, Lynn has been responsible for the architecture, system design, procurement, installation, launch, and on-going operations for numerous communications networks around the world. He participated in the design and development of the first carrier Ethernet network and has experience managing teams responsible for network architecture, engineering, service provisioning and operations.
