Since delivering State Plans less than a month ago, the FirstNet and AT&T team has crisscrossed the country to meet with 42 states and territories regarding their plans, with 12 more engagements slated for later this month.  The State Plan Review Consultation meetings are designed for the states and territories to ask questions and provide feedback on their plans, so the Governor in each state and territory has the information that she or he needs to make the most informed decision on its State Plan this year.

These meetings are an extension of the consultation and outreach that we are required to do under the Act that established FirstNet.  In the four years since FirstNet started engaging with the states and territories, we have witnessed an unprecedented level of interest and commitment from local, state, and federal government leaders to make the FirstNet network a reality for all public safety disciplines.  FirstNet embraced consultation as an opportunity to connect with public safety stakeholders and collect their feedback and data, and we used their input to develop customized State Plans specifically designed as a superior network solution to meet the public safety community’s needs.

Moving forward, our consultation will continue through the State Plans process and after the Governor’s decision.  We know that each state and territory has an important choice to make – whether to accept the FirstNet State Plan or develop their own – and we encourage the public safety community to talk with their state leaders and executives about the benefits of the FirstNet solution.  It is not too late to get involved.

Also, to show the latest developments with State Plans, this week we launched the State Plans Dashboard on firstnet.gov.  This interactive map highlights key milestones in each state, territory, and the District of Columbia – including the four states that have elected to opt-in to the FirstNet network.  We will be updating this map on a regular basis.  In addition, you can also visit firstnet.com to learn more about the FirstNet solution and the unique value that the FirstNet network will bring to public safety.

As the network moves closer to becoming a reality, it is clear that the delivery of a first-class network solution would not have been possible without the time invested and relationships developed during our many meetings and discussions.  Than you again to the state single points of contact and their teams for their engagement, feedback, and collaboration over the years.
