A new cell site in Earleville, Maryland brings improved coverage to the first responders of the Cecil County. The new site is part of the FirstNet network’s expanding infrastructure for the state.
Mississippi’s first responders are getting a major boost in their wireless communications with the addition of new, purpose-built FirstNet cell sites as well as the addition of Band-14 to more than 400 sites across the state. This new infrastructure is a part of the FirstNet network expansion that is bringing increased coverage, capacity, and capabilities for public safety.
Maine’s first responders got a major boost in their wireless communications with the addition of new, purpose-built FirstNet cell sites – located in Aroostook, Penobscot, Oxford, Somerset, Hancock, Kennebec and Knox counties. This new infrastructure was a part of the FirstNet network expansion taking place across the state, bringing increased coverage, capacity and capabilities for public safety.
FirstNet Authority Board Chair Tip Osterthaler has named Chief Richard Carrizzo to be Vice Chair of the Board. Chief Carrizzo is Fire Chief for the Southern Platte Fire Protection District in Missouri and has been on the FirstNet Authority Board since 2018, serving on the Public Safety Advocacy and Network and Technology Committees.

The FirstNet Authority Board approved a $213 million budget for Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21), with a focus on the organization’s operations and its investments into FirstNet, the nationwide public safety broadband network.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced the appointment of Tip Osterthaler to serve as Chair of the FirstNet Authority Board. He will succeed Edward Horowitz, who is completing his two-year term as Chair. Horowitz will remain on the Board until his term expires in August 2021.
