The FirstNet Authority Board approved a $213 million budget for Fiscal Year 2021, with a focus on the organization’s operations and its investments into FirstNet, the nationwide public safety broadband network.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced the appointment of Tip Osterthaler to serve as Chair of the FirstNet Authority Board. He will succeed Edward Horowitz, who is completing his two-year term as Chair. Horowitz will remain on the Board until his term expires in August 2021.

With the deployment of FirstNet cell sites and Band 14 across New England, tens of thousands of first responders are using FirstNet to support their response to COVID-19, natural disasters, and other emergencies.
