9-1-1/Emergency Communications

“We need to be thinking about how our PSAPs are going to dispatch us…and how we’re going to get those calls for service. We’re at the point where we can seriously make a difference in the alerting times… if we can get fire trucks out faster, it’s only going to benefit our customer.”

- Greg Hauser,
Superintendent of the Fire Alarm Division, Charlotte (NC) Fire Department

The FirstNet network is a vital tool for our nations PSAPs and emergency communicators. It can help process, manage, and disseminate the flow of information coming into and going out of PSAPs by providing vital connectivity between the PSAP and the first responders -- enabling the real time delivery of videos, photos and other high-speed data to support better situational awareness and improved outcomes.

Through robust consultation effort with states, territories, tribes, public safety associations, first responders, and its Public Safety Advisory Committee, the First Responder Network Authority works with the 9-1-1/emergency communications community a guiding force in network planning to help ensure the FirstNet network meets its communication needs.
